So I used to have Garageband on my Mac before I updated to Yosemite. After the update, it is no longer here. Where do I now find Garageband after the update? I tried to look on the App store, thinking maybe now you have to download it if you want it but they only have one for sale.

Jan 14, 2019  Hi all, I currently use my 2012 Macbook Pro for recording in Garageband. The Macbook is stock apart from an SSD drive I added a few years ago. It performs perfectly for what I need. However it is tiring pulling it out of the setup when I want to us my laptop as a laptop. So I don't need.

  • It is now possible to reinstall the Sound Library in GarageBand after moving the library in Logic Pro X or MainStage, and then disconnecting the external drive that contains the library.
  • Impulse Response files for Chinese and Japanese traditional instruments are now correctly found when a GarageBand for iOS project is opened on macOS.

  • The Tuning Hint window now opens in Learn to Play lessons that feature non-standard tunings.
  • Chords now display in the correct positions in the Chord Trainer.

  • The Smart Controls Inspector now displays correctly in newly created projects.

iCloud lets you keep your GarageBand for iOS songs up to date across all of your iOS devices, and your GarageBand for Mac songs up to date across all of your Macs. You can also start creating a song on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and then import it to your Mac using iCloud.

If you don't see your GarageBand songs on iCloud

After updating to iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite, new GarageBand songs you’ve shared to iCloud may not appear on all your iOS devices or Macs. Follow these steps to use iCloud with GarageBand.

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Update your device to iOS 8.
  2. Update to GarageBand version 2.0.3 or later on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  3. Upgrade to iCloud Drive.

On your Mac

  1. Update your Mac to OS X Yosemite.
  2. Update to GarageBand version 10.0.3 or later on your Mac.
  3. Upgrade to iCloud Drive.

Use iCloud and GarageBand with iOS 8 and OS X Mavericks

You can import GarageBand for iOS songs created on a device using iOS 8 to a Mac using OS X Mavericks. If you’ve upgraded your iOS 8 device to iCloud Drive, you must update your Mac to OS X Yosemite to import GarageBand for iOS songs.

Use iCloud and GarageBand with your iPhone 4

You can use iCloud with GarageBand on iPhone 4 if you haven't upgraded to iCloud Drive on any of your other devices. If you’ve already upgraded to iCloud Drive, your iPhone 4 won't be able to upload or display GarageBand for iOS songs stored in iCloud.

If you'd like to upgrade to iCloud Drive to use on your iOS 8 or OS X Yosemite devices, use these steps to download a copy of your GarageBand for iOS songs stored in iCloud to your iPhone 4 before you upgrade to iCloud Drive:

  1. Open GarageBand.
  2. If a project is open, close it and return to the My Songs browser.
  3. Tap any song with a download icon to save a local copy to your iPhone 4.
